As part of the routine operations in the fight against COVID-19 in Kano state, the Kano state governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has approved Dr. Tijjani Hussaini, the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Management Board, to be the Coordinator of Technical Response Team. .
Abba Anwar, Chief Press Secretary to the state governor Ganduje, in a statement on Tuesday stated that “Dr. Hussaini has since swung into action as a sound health professional who understands his assigned responsibility, as a Coordinator who takes the responsibility of providing technical leadership against the global pandemic in the state.”
In a letter sent to the Chairman of the State Task Force on COVID-19 from the Governor’s office, it states that “…it has become imminent to appoint Dr. Tijjani Hussaini (Executive Secretary, State Primary Health Care Management Board) as the Coordinator of this response.
” who shall provide technical leadership with immediate effect. All necessary and maximum cooperation should be accorded to him, please.”
The letter further encourages that, “I also urge you to continue to be courageous as you have been since the beginning of this response. Your efforts are been appreciated by the good people of Kano State, as we look forward to successful containment of this pandemic.”
Recalls that the Kano COVID-19 committee was in disarray as 6 members were tested positive for Coronavirus.
It was gathered that the discovery has jolted the 14-member committee on Thursday night as the co-chairman of the committee and deputy governor of the state, Nasiru Gawuna, shelved a scheduled meeting of the committee “till further notice”.
