In a bid to cushion the hardship being experienced due to lockdown been imposed, Fulbe Development and Cultural Organization (FUDECO) in collaboration with Foundation for Refugees Economic Empowerment (FREE) has distributed palliatives worth millions of naira to about 250 vulnerable households in Jalingo the Taraba capital and environs.
The items distributed include bags of rice and beans, vegetable oil, and other related food items.
Hajiya Aisha Ardo, Taraba Chapter Chairperson of FUDECO, explained that the palliatives were targeted at alleviating the food needs of vulnerable people that were likely to be affected by the COVID-19 lockdown.
She explained that the items were mobilised from donations made by patriotic citizens in society and that those covered by the organization include People With Disabilities (PWD), Pastoral Communities, Orphanage Homes, and other less privileged members of the capital and its environs.
At each of the locations, Aisha enlightens them on the measures to be taken against COVID-19.
She demonstrated the hand washing process, correct ways of wearing the face mask, and social distancing.
Aisha, who is a University teacher, emphasized that the Corona Virus was real and that all hands must be on deck to stop the spread of COVID-19.

At Jongore and Sibre pastoral communities, the harders who expressed their happiness for being carried saying that it the first time an NGO was reaching to them with palliatives.
Receiving the palliatives on behalf of his members, the state Chairman of People With Disabilities, Comrade Mohammed Sadiq expressed appreciation to the donors for coming to their aid at a point when they were completely lockdown.
Similarly, the operator of Alheri Orphanage in Jalingo, Hajiya Ummul Agwaru said the palliatives would go a long way in addressing the food shortages to the center.
