The Lagos State government has said the late Abiola Ajimobi, who was a Senator and former Governor of Oyo State, had multiple organ failure caused by COVID-19 complication.

The Commissioner for Health in Lagos, Professor Akin Abayomi disclosed this in a tweet.

“We regret the death of immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajumobi who passed on today, June 25, 2020, at First Cardiologist Consultant; a private COVID-19 approved care facility in Lagos State.

“The former Governor died from multiple organs failure following complications from COVID-19 infection,” Prof Abayomi wrote in a tweet.

He condoled with the family of the deceased as well as the people of Oyo State.

“On behalf of COVID-19 Lagos Incident Commander, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the entire #COVID19Lagos response team, we convey our heartfelt condolences to the family of the former Governor and the people of Oyo state.”

The West African Pilot News (WAP) recalls that experts say persons with underlying medical conditions, including heart disease and diabetes, may not survive. They also said persons with weak immune systems may not survive.

Senator Ajimobi died yesterday at 4 pm.
