Eyitayo Jegede has emerged as the winner of the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State.

Jegede defeated the Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi who recently defected to the PDP from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Jegede won 888 votes, defeating Ajayi who secured 657 votes.

The result shows other aspirants who struggled to get votes.

Eddy Olafeso came third with 175 votes. He was followed by Bode Ayorinde who polled 95 votes, while Banji Okunomo got 90 votes.

Senator Boluwaji Kunlere polled 33 votes; Sola Ebiseni polled 29 votes while Godd Erewa got 14 votes.

There were reports that four persons had been caught thumb printing ballot papers before voting commenced. It was, however, discovered that the papers were specimens.

Jegede’s victory replays the 2016 governorship election in the State, when the incumbent governor, Rotimi Akeredolu of the APC contested against Eyitayo Jegede. WAP news reports that Akeredolu won the APC ticket for the governorship election coming up later this year.
