After hot jostling among contenders, fresh facts emerge that the Zekes, traditional selectors of New Hama Bachama, has finally endorsed Mr. Daniel Shagah Ismaila from Nokodomun clan as the new monarch to succeed late Hama Bachama Honest Irmiya Stephen, Kwirei-Mana, Kpafrato II Gbulumbomo.
The late monarch passed away last month at the age of 66 and funeral rites were observed at Shafe in Lamurde, with Chief Kingmaker Nzopwato leading the group.
The six royal clans to vie for the stool of the Hama Bachama are Kowo, Magbularon, Impang, Waduku, Nomupo, and Nokodomun.
In an official memo/ letter dated July 27, titled ‘’SELECTION OF THE NEW HAMA BACHAMA’’ and forwarded to the chairman Numan local government council, seven out of the nine selectors, the senior Zekes and Nzopwato have appended their signature for the endorsement.
The letter read as thus: ‘’ In accordance with the Local Authority law, Cap 77 (The Numan Federation Local Authority) Modification of native law and custom relating to the selection of the new chief of Bachama order 1970.
‘’We the traditional selectors, the senior Zeke and Nzopwato have today the 27th of July 2020 agreed and Selected Mr. Daniel Shagah Ismaila (OO) from Nokodomun Clan as the new King of Hama Bachama kingdom.’’
Our correspondent reports that the contest for the exalted throne of a new paramount ruler for the Bachama chiefdom was hot in the last three weeks with six prominent personalities within the ruling clans slugging in.
Meanwhile, efforts to get the council chairman proved abortive as he was said to be ‘’ in a crucial meeting with stakeholders’’, however, it could be recalled here that, in a telephone interview with Voice Of America (VOA)-Hausa Service, before the selection of the monarch, Chief Timawus Mathias Nzobyalata Hamma Bachama and spokesman of the Bachama palace said the selection process has been observed according to Bachama rites.
Inside sources say that all names of contenders including the selected name will be officially forwarded to the state governor for ratification and possible announcement.
