Authorities have confirmed that the third victim who was rescued from the helicopter crash has died.

Two other occupants of the helicopter were confirmed dead at the site of the crash and their remains deposited at the mortuary. However, the third victim was rushed to the Lagos State University teaching hospital (LASUTH) at Ikeja but did not recover from his injuries.

The General Manager, Public Affairs of the Accident Investigation Burea (AIB), Mr Tunji Oketunmbi, told Channels Television that the third victim died.

The Director General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr Femi Osanyintolu, died at the Intensive Care Unit of LASUTH on Friday evening.

This brings the total fatality to three.

The West African Pilot reports that the ill fated helicopter was flying from Port Harcourt to Murtala Muhammed Airport when it crashed into a building at Opebi in Ikeja.

Rescue officials said that no one on the ground was affected. Witnesses said that there was no one in the building when accident happened.
