Abbo has announced his defection from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in a letter addressed to the Senate President.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan read the letter during Wednesday’s plenary session.
Senator’s Abbo’s defection did not come as a surprise to many political watchers as he has for a long time been at logger head with the state governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Recently, the defected senator has been frolicking with APC leaders as he was alleged to have been secretly funding some activities of Adamawa Chapter of the APC even while serving as a PDP senator.

In a swift reaction, chairman of the ruling party in Adamawa PDP, Barr A. T Shehu said that the party will do all it could to reclaim back it’s senatorial seat following the defection.
Shehu said, “Is not against the rule of law of Democracy to decide which party someone will belong, but sometimes your steps of movement will indicate what type of politician are you…
“Elisha Abbo have prove to be unfaithful and disloyal to his people, and the party he got the Senate ticket.
“We are not suprise by his action.we have already seeing that long before now.
” He thought he will go score free? Never we are going to reclaim back our (PDP) seat at the Senate.
” He has never associate himself with PDP, and this is because the party categorically refused to associate itself with him over his Abuja toy scandal,” said PDP chairman A. T Shehu.
