To ensure compliance with the Executive Order banning the use of tricycles and motorcycles in the night, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Monday night led a security patrol within the state capital to arrest defaulters of the Order.

The order which came into effect on Tuesday 2nd February, 2021, in Girei, Yola North and Yola South Local Governments within the hours of 10: pm to 5: am.

According to the Executive Order, any person found in a Tricycle or on a Motorcycle stationary or in motion, within the prohibited period whether as a rider or passenger is liable to prosecution.

The Order prescribes a sentence of 6 Months imprisonment with an option of One Hundred Thousand Naira (100,000) fine or both, in addition to forfeiting the Tricycle or Motorcycle to the Government if found guilty of violation of the Order.

Several defaulters around Mubi Roundabout and Jambutu in Yola North local government were arrested.

In an interview with newsmen at PZ Roundabout in Jimeta, Governor Fintiri said the patrol was to ensure full compliance with the Executive Order as reports reaching his office indicated cases of tricycles movement within the prohibited hours in the state capital.

“As the Chief Security Officer of the state, I will not tolerate lawlessness and therefore decided to come out by myself for the arrest of defaulters so that miscreants who use the tricycles during the late hours are deterred.

“I commend the appreciable level of compliance to the Executive Order and this is to the dogged efforts of the service commanders in the state and state government will continue to support them”, he said.

Fintiri urged the citizenry to put hands on deck in policing Adamawa as security is everybody’s business, calling for collaboration with the government in that regard considering the deteriorating security in some parts of the country.
