The Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria (AUFCDN) said its leaders have been invited by the Department of State Services for blocking the supply of foodstuffs and cattle from the North to the South.

The General Secretary of the union, Ahmed Alaramma, said this at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, adding that the President of the association, Mohammed Tahir, was currently with the DSS.

The blockade of food to the south was done in protest against the alleged killings of their members in the South and it entered its fourth day.

The union was demanding the protection of its members and payment of N4.75 billion compensation for the slain members and properties lost during the #EndSARS protest and the Shasha Market crisis in Ibadan.

It also wanted the government to dismantled all roadblocks on federal highways where members were harassed and extorted by the police, and other security operatives.

The strike included closing all routes between the North and South for vehicles conveying cattle and food item. Vehicles like that were stopped from reaching the Southern part of the country.
