MigrationNigeriaGBV: South Korean Govt Built Multipurpose Community In Adamawa

The South Korean government through International Organization for Migration built a Multipurpose Community Hall as part of a project; titled “Strengthened Protection from Gender-Based Violence in North-East Nigeria”, at Malkohi community of Yola South local government area.

The project is part of continued humanitarian assistance in Northeastern states, aimed at promoting the dignity and wellbeing of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

Commissioning the edifice, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri lauded the humanitarian activities of the South Korean Government in North-East region of Nigeria and Adamawa state in particular.

Represented at the event by his deputy Chief Crowther Seth, the Governor assured that his determination will continue to support such a laudable intervention by utilizing and devising means of sustaining it.

“The edifice was designed for skill acquisition for the beneficiaries, and the gesture will bring succor to those intended to promote cooperation between the people of Adamawa, Nigeria and those of South Korea.”

“We asked for more intervention from the government of South Korea in areas of technology,” Fintiri said

In their separate remarks, the Chief of Mission, International Organization for Migration Frontz Celestin, and the Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea, in Nigeria Kim Young-Chae appreciated the government of Adamawa for their support, noting that without their corporation, such could not have been a reality.

They testified that Adamawa is among the states in Nigeria worst hit by the activities of terror groups, rendering women and children homeless, hence their commitment to addressing the health and psychosocial needs of the survivors including those facing immediate and life-threatening risks.
