ABUJA — The outgoing Registrar, Pharmacists Council of Nigeria Elijah Mohammed has revealed that the council has sealed about 25,000 illegal premises across the country in the last eight years.
Mohammed, during the presentation of his scorecard as registrar of the council from June 2014 to June 2022 on Tuesday in Abuja, said Nigeria would have about 30 faculties of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences by the end of this year.
“The offences of the sealed premises ranged from poor documentation, unhygienic environment, non-regularization of their papers and inappropriate behaviours, among others,” he said.
Prof. Ahmed Tijjani Mora, chairman of the governing board of the council said in the now 30 years of the PCN, there had been three substantive registrars, including Mohammed and two acting registrars.
In a remark, Chairman, Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, Senate Committee on Health, commended the outgoing registrar for delivering good health to Nigerians and noted that there is a need to strengthen all regulatory health agencies.
