The Anambra State Police Command has issued a security advisory ahead of the Christmas festivities to the safety and security of lives in the state. The security advisory contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer -PPRO of Anambra Police Command, CSP Tochi Ikenga, also asked for the support of the people of Anambra by providing relevant information to the police. “As part of efforts to enhance public safety and peace in the State, the police Command urges Ndi Anambra to remain vigilant and seek their support in sustaining safety, improving surveillance, and reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.”

As part of ways to make the exchange of information easy, the PPRO said that such information or reports of suspicious activities can be passed to the following emergency hotline; 07039194332. He also noted that the PPRO can be reached to make such reports, as well as the DPOs of all the police stations in the state.

Condemning the unauthorized use of tinted glasses on vehicles, CSP Tochi Ikenga said that such conduct is not helping the security situation in the state. “The Command frowns at the discreditable conduct of some individuals using tinted vehicles and discourages the use, except if necessary because of how criminal elements use it to beat security points and attack security operatives in the State,” a part of the statement reads.

The Command also cautioned indiscriminate bush burning, as well as indiscriminate disposal of cigarette butts, use of firecrackers, and other explosives because of the dry season, to avoid an outbreak of fire. More so, the police extended their advocacy to the careful use of electrical appliances as part of measures to prevent fire outbreaks.

As a part of the Command’s general preparation for the season, the PPRO also noted that motorists driving within the state should endeavour to obey all traffic rules and maintain moderate speed to avoid needless accidents.
