Speaking at the occasion, in Yola, Governor Fintiri noted that the distribution of instructional materials to schools across the state marks another milestone in the administration’s march towards educational renewal.
Fintiri reassured that the focus of his administration remains rehabilitation, construction, enhancing performance and learning, human capital development and recruitment, quality assurance and standards with educational planning and management.
In his words, “This administration has embarked on the massive rehabilitation and construction of schools across the state, constructing blocks of 3 classrooms and offices in over 300 schools, rehabilitation of classrooms and offices in 400 schools as well as the provision of 87 VIP toilets.
“The state government has also embarked on a deliberate policy to provide 20,000 sets of desks, chairs, computers and internet facilities in 9 schools in the first phase.
“This administration is making tremendous progress in transforming the public schools to a level that students and teachers, who are the prime stakeholders, will want to attend,
as the first critical step towards rekindling interest of children and teachers in education,” said he.
He said the provision of instructional materials to 1,968 schools is a demonstration of his government’s resolve to implement policies that will ensure the uplifting the because it is the greatest resource and asset and that every investment in education is an investment in the future.
He pointed out that recently his administration commissioned an ICT centre at the Scholarship Trust Fund premises to cater for the 60 students admitted to study engineering courses in far away India, but could not travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The centre is to serve as an E-learning facility before proceeding to continue with their studies in India.
The Governor who appealed to parents and guardians to see the education of their children as a necessary obligation, urged them not to abandon their responsibilities to Government and Teachers.
He assured that his government will do everything possible to revamp the sector and make it more attractive than the private sector initiative.
The Governor also used the opportunity to express his gratitude to UNICEF, PLAN International and other donor agencies for helping to close the infrastructure gap in the education sector in the state through providing access to quality education.
The commissioner of education and human Capital development, Mrs wulbina Jackson and the chairman ADSUBEB Malam Salihu Ateequ Ibrahim also urged the public to support the Fintiri administration in its social reengineering agenda.
