A statement by the deputy registrar of the institution, (academics), Medan A. Ndodi, made available to newsmen in Yola, Friday, said the decision was taken as a measure to safeguard the lives of its students in the wake of the #EndSARS protest.
” Staff and students will recall that the academic board of the polytechnic has earlier approved resumption of academic activities in the polytechnic as from Monday October 26, 2020.
” Following the widely spread protests in the country, which will definitely affect students’ smooth movement back to the campus, the commencement of academic activities has been postponed. A new date for resumption will be announced in due course.
” I’m to regret the inconveniences this decision might have on the staff and students. However, the decision is necessary to ensure safety of our students,” the statement added.
The polytechnic has been embroiled in a strife between ASUP and the management culminating in the declaration of an indefinite strike by the ASUP chapter of the institution.
