Fear of uncertainty now grips residents of Toungo town in the southern part of Adamawa as yet to be identified gunmen reportedly killed four persons in the area.

Multiple sources said that 4 people were killed in separate attacks by the gunmen.

” There is fear everywhere, the gunmen suspected to be bandits blocked road thereby killing prospective victims.

” One of the four killed, a staff of Toungo Local Government Council on his way back from a Village market.

” There have been pocket of attacks by gunmen in recent times, forcing residents to sleep with our eyes opened,” said a local trader who doesn’t want his name mentioned.

Also corroborating a local vigilante who pleaded anonymity as he was not authorized to speak to the press said, ” we got the information late but already our members and hunters have swung into action.”

In the meantime, the Chairman of the Council Hon. Kefas Calvin, could not pick repeated calls to him to comment on the issue.

Similarly, as at the time of filing this report, efforts to draw words out of the Police spokesman in the state DSP Suleiman Yahya Nguroje have been futile.

Toungo is sharing borders with the Cameron and cross border banditry is taking a toll in the areas.
