The second term ambition of Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, appears to have ended as the committee set up by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to screen aspirants who would contest in the primary election of the party and eventually represent the party in the gubernatorial election, disqualified the governor and two other aspirants, on Friday.
The screen committee also disqualified Chris Ogiemwonyi and Matthew Iduoriyekenwen.
The panel while submitting its findings to the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, said Mr Obaseki was disqualified due to discrepancies in his Higher School Certificate. The Chairman of the panel, Prof Jonathan Ayuba, explained that the committee could not vouch for the authenticity of the school certificate the governor affirmed he had but could not produce.
The screening committee said Obaseki presented a certificate that only attested his attendance.
Professor Ayuba said the findings of the committee had been concluded and that all members signed the report. He added that the process was recorded and the unedited recording would be made available to the party.
