The police in Lagos have arrested some suspects including domestic staff members of the Lagos home of the late Moshood Abiola, the presumed winner of the 1993 Presidential election.

The house which is on Toyin Crescent in Lagos was at 4 a.m. Wednesday, attacked by armed robbers who carted away “properties worth millions of naira.”

The Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu was quoted by the Nation as saying that suspects including some domestic staff had been arrested.

“Yes, robbers went there and carted away unspecified amount jewelries and some money. I was there personally and I spoke with Mama. There was no physical assault on her or the two daughters who were home,” Odumosu said.

“I know that some suspects are in custody but I have not been briefed on the number of people arrested. Some of the domestic staff were also arrested.

“The security on the ground did not alert the police or any security agency when the incident was going. They said they noticed unusual movement within the compound at the time but did not inform us. The police were only told several hours after the robbery.”
