For Folwoya Goriji farming community at Ndikong ward of Mayo Belwa local government area of Adamawa, groundwater does not only serve their need but that of their livestock.

For now, this sleeping community depends on pond -water for daily chorus, alleging that they were neglected by their state and local representatives.

The rural dwellers pleaded with the state and local government to come to their plight.

“We only see them during election campaigns with fake and empty promises.

“For God’s sake, see the water we are drinking with our livestock, as if we forgotten.

“Please tell them our plight, “so begs Baba Musa one of the villagers.

Also corroborating Ibrahim J Makejo an activist in the laments that like in other parts of rural communities, water quality and the risk of waterborne diseases are critical public health concerns.

“Safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene are among the five key strategies aimed at combating neglected tropical diseases.

“So,  it’s important for our elected leaders  to assess drinking water quality, household sanitation, and hygiene practices in  rural communities,” he urges.

In the meantime, efforts to get the councilor representing the area proved abortive as he was said to be out of town, so also chairman Mayo Belwa local government area.
