There is heightened tension in two communities following the alleged killing of five persons in Aguleri community of Anambra East Local Government Area. Aguleri is Governor Willie Obiano’s community.

The Nation reported that the incident happened on Saturday night.

At the same time, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) alleged that two of its members were missing and that many cows have been killed in Umudioka community in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

But Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Anambra State, Ikenga Tochukwu, debunked the alleged killings, saying that the gunmen only kidnapped five persons.

Tochukwu said that two of the kidnapped victims had been rescued while the security force is on a manhunt to rescue the remaining three.

On the MACBAN allegation on the Umudioka saga, the police spokesperson said he is still making contact.

The Chairman of the Miyetti Allah in the Southeast, Alhaji Gidado Sidiki, said two of their herders were missing while many of their cows had been killed.

A source from Umudioka, who pleaded anonymity, told journalists that herders invaded their community, shooting sporadically on Easter Sunday.

He said their allegation was to cover up their sins, noting that they would not allow them to cause mayhem in Umudioka.
