Respite came the way of four kidnapped victims in the Ugbolu forest, located in the Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State when troops from the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army successfully rescued them.

A press statement on Monday issued by Major Emmanuel Onoja, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, noted that the operation was initiated following reliable intelligence regarding the activities of suspected kidnappers in the area.

According to the statement, the brave troops of the 63 Brigade conducted a successful raid on the kidnappers’ hideout on Monday, December 9, 2024.

The swift action of the troops led to the rescue of the four victims, who had been held captive.

Onoja stated that during the operation, the troops engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle, overpowering them and forcing them to abandon their captives as they fled into the dense forest. Fortunately, all abductees were rescued unharmed.

“The rescued victims are now in a secure location, where they are receiving the necessary care and support. Meanwhile, troops are actively pursuing the fleeing kidnappers.

“We encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies as we continue our unwavering efforts to eliminate all forms of criminality from the state.” Onoja added.
