Biodun Olujimi, senator representing Ekiti South at the Upper chamber of the National Assembly, has accused national leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of fueling the crisis rocking the party in the state by backing the actions of former Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The West African Pilot had reported that two chairmen emerged from parallel congresses organised by factions supported by Mr. Fayose and Senator Olujimi.

Senator Olujimi alleged that the former governor was allowed to write the list of delegates forward congresses because of the support he got from the party’s national executives. She denied being sponsored by Governor Fayemi to cause conflict in the party and stressed that she had never spoken to the Governor.

“The national executive of the party is behind the former governor. If not, why did they allow him to write the list of every delegate during the ward congresses, including those from my senatorial district?” Senator Olujimi said.

“I believe that is the way the national body wants it because, from the start, the congress was bound to fail.

“The caretaker committee chairman of the party in the state declined to hold the state congress, citing the crisis in the party, but the national secretariat directed the secretary of the caretaker committee to conduct the illegal congress, which he did.

“If the party had wanted to do a credible Congress, they should have done the three ad hoc delegates because that was what our constitution provided for.

“The list did not go, yet they said they held a congress to fill in the post. So, our group decided to hold parallel congress too if what the party wanted to promote were illegality and impunity. We will stand on what we have done until something major is done about it,” She stated.

The Senator said she was fighting for justice and averred that peace would return to the party if Mr Fayose was called to order.

“…But everybody is dodging it. Nobody wants to do it but to massage ego. Unless the party speaks truth to power, we will be where we are,” She said.
