KADUNA — Four suspected bandits were killed by the Nigeria security forces during a repelling attack on an outlaw gang in Kaduna state on Saturday.
The attack which occurred at Igabi Local Government Area of the state was a part of a combined ground and air assault on identified bandit enclaves.
The state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
He identified the four bandits killed as Alili Bandiro, Dayyabu Bala, Bala Nagwarjo, and Sulele Bala.
The military troops also killed three other bandits while repelling an attack at Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
“Maikwandaraso is close to Karshi village and shares boundaries with the infamous Kawara and Malul forests in the same Igabi LGA, which have been identified as the hub of several armed bandit camps and hideouts.
“Receiving the report, Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed his satisfaction at the development and thanked the military for their concerted efforts at ridding the identified areas of armed bandits.
“The governor commended the troops and personnel involved in the successful strikes, and encouraged them to sustain the tempo of operations towards a comprehensive sweep of all hideouts,” Mr. Aruwan said.
The wave of violence unleashed in the northern region by the militant terror group Boko Haram has lasted over a decade.
In spite of government efforts, the security situation in Nigeria is deteriorating.
The recent abductions of students in Katsina State, Niger, and Kebbi state are more examples of the deplorable state of security in the country.
